For over 4500 years--from Ancient Egypt, through the Middle Ages, and up to the present day--lavender has been used worldwide to treat a variety of common ailments including anxiety, insomnia, and all forms of headache. Well before the development of antibiotics, lavender has been used as an antiseptic due to its natural antibacterial properties.
